Flower Remedies and Homeopathy do work in the same fashion. They both are designed to unlock the subconscious door allowing buried trauma to be released. There are differences in preparation and finding the correct flower remedy is generally easier than finding the correct homeopathic remedy.
In the modern era flower remedies were introduced via Dr. Edward Bach. Dr. Bach was a homeopath and was mentored by the great homeopath J.H. Clarke, M.D. Bach also worked for a period of time at the London Homeopathic Hospital. So, Bach was well aware of the difficulties of finding the correct homeopathic remedy, the simillimum. He was keen on wanting to make the choosing of flower remedies a much easier process than one encounters in the practice of homeopathy.
That is perhaps the reason Dr. Bach ignored physical symptoms as part of his flower provings. He wanted people to focus on their mental/emotional/spiritual difficulties without being distracted by the physical symptoms. What is going on in your mind that prevents you from enjoying life? What patterns of mind prevent you from experiencing joy? What are your fears? What do you need to regain your sense of balance in life? These are the type of the questions Dr. Bach was interested in.
He also felt that medical training was entirely too focused on the physical complaints which prevented the doctor from noticing what the patient was experiencing on the deeper levels of consciousness. He thought this was a grave mistake in the practice of medicine. He also recognized the simple brilliant force of healing potential found in nature. He wanted medicine to harness the power of nature but at the same time be gentle and in tune with the law of healing. He found what he was seeking in the humble, smiling faces of flowers.
Awareness of Dr. Bach’s life efforts have spread wide around our world. But, the need is as great now as ever with so many human beings suffering under the weight of their mental, emotional and spiritual struggles.
This system of flower remedies is easy to learn and practice. This is one of the reasons that I have taken the time to record classes covering the practice of the Bach system. Another reason is simply to get more people using flower remedies so we can enjoy life a bit more and be nicer to ourselves and others. Check out the Bach course at nmsnt.org listed under courses.
If you take the time to check out the current classes being offered you may notice another flower course entitled RS Flower Medicines. If you have no previous training in flower remedies please take the Bach course prior to the RS course. The RS course is a journey through 41 provings of additional flowers not found within the Bach System. The provings were all done by Robert Stevens. The descriptions of the actions of the remedies are different than those done by Dr. Bach and perhaps address issues of trauma that were not addressed by Dr. Bach. There are also references made in both course on combining some of the flowers from the Bach system with the RS system. The combinations will be easier to understand by taking the Bach course first then the RS course.
