History

The New Mexico School of Therapeutic Massage was founded in 1974 by C. David Tinkle. David retired in 1976 and turned the school over to Charles Brown and Robert Stevens. To better support the direction the school was headed the name was changed to The New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in 1978. The curriculum was expanded to support the unfolding of the co-directors interest in bodywork, the philosophy of acute healing and assorted natural healing modalities. NSMNT applied for and was granted federal non-profit status in 1980. After Charles Brown retired Robert Stevens continued as Director of NMSNT. Students came from all over the states and 24 foreign countries to study and graduate from NMSNT. The school’s beautiful campus was closed in March 2020. NMSNT has offered a unique educational opportunity in the field of natural therapeutics. Our graduates are spread around the globe offering quality bodywork and helpful suggestions to those interested in healing with nature. In oder to continue with the new mission of NMSNT and to assure that our understanding of bodywork and natural healing is not lost to time NMSNT will continue with online offerings. In this we hope to not only preserve this precious knowledge but perhaps to reach a larger audience.

About NMSNT

  • True health, like a gentle breeze or a honeybee, dusts and pollinates everything and everyone it touches. Healthy water, for example, demands that we safeguard the streams and rivers from which that water flows. Healthy, vibrant food requires healthy, uncontaminated soil. Proper oxygenation of the lungs demands not only long walks but also clean, unpolluted air. A peaceful social environment in which to raise healthy children requires good communication with other peoples of the world, a cultivation and appreciation of similarities and common interests.
