Class Description:
Indian Head Massage is one of the most relaxing forms of massage and when performed properly relaxes the muscles situated in the back, neck and face. It also relaxes the mind and nervous system. A feeling of psychological well-being and tension relief is often the outcome of the session.

Head Massage helps improve blood circulation, possibly a key component to reducing the pain and/or frequency of migraines, which are associated with reduced blood flow to the brain. Those who suffer from stress-triggered migraines and other types of headaches may find relief from reduced muscle tension in the back of the head, the neck and the shoulders.

The course is designed for Therapists who wish to develop knowledge and skills in the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of Head Massage and incorporating it and its blend of concepts into a full body massage session. Students will be provided with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to prepare for and provide a full head massage therapy safely and confidently, incorporating classical and advanced massage techniques into a full body session. Basic Ayurvedic principles will be covered.

To achieve this there is close supervision and support throughout, encouraging reflective practice and development of the therapeutic relationship.

Course Objective:
Upon completion of class students will have a thorough understanding of an effective head massage; including theory, benefits, contraindications, safety issues, massage strokes, oil and non-oil use in massage of the head, and a hydrotherapy head wrap; all to a high professional standard.
