Life is great – and I owe a lot of my success to the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics

January 26th, 2013

More than twelve years ago I began a search that I hoped would change my life.  My partner and I had been running our own business – a small retail shop in Cincinnati, OH for the seven years prior and the time had come too close up shop and move on.  But to what?

The healing arts had been a very important part of both my daily life and my spiritual life.  We had incorporated it into our shop, using meditation, visualization, massage, astrology and more.  So moving deeper into this field seemed like the best path and to become Massage Therapist was my ultimate goal.

It was then that we started our research for the “best” massage school for us.  We visited schools in California, Hawaii and New Mexico – six all toll.  The New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics (NMSNT) was one of the schools we had visited then and the only one that met all of our needs.

Research done, next, I needed to gather the money for school.  I began working for a friend in small manufacturing company.  This I thought would provide me with the necessary funds to pay for our schooling – I figured that I would need about 3 years to save the needed amount. Then, life took other twist and turns, our parents needed help, my partner and I bought a house and got settled.  Time passed and after twelve years and the passing of all our parents, my partner and I knew that we needed to really follow our hearts.  So back to our original plan we went.

Massage was the thing we turned to and with our past and now current research; NMSNT was once again the school we chose.  With a few phone calls and a visit to the school we knew that NMSNT was the place for us.  It had been twenty plus years since I had been in school and fear griped me, ‘Can I still be a student?’  Did I have what was needed to study and grasp classes like Anatomy?

From the first day of classes, we were assured that we were in the right place.  The staff and faculty were ever helping and encouraging.  Each teacher brought to class their unique talents and motivation to help me learn.  The classes were interesting, applicable, challenging and fulfilling!   Plus we had the wonderful opportunity to work on the general public in the school’s Massage Clinic.  This was one of the best learning tools they could have given me.  Each client had different needs, different bodies different personalities.  Being able to place my hands on these spirited beings was humbling, sacred and a fantastic learning experience.

The class schedule included not only Anatomy and Swedish Massage, but also Herbalism, Reflexology, Raw Foods, Polarity, and non-specific stretching.  It also provided classes in fields that are not available in other schools such as Core and Homeopathy.

It was the best choice I could have made.  My education provided me an exceptional platform for moving forward in my massage career.  I believe that because of NMSNT, I excelled on the MBLEx and the Nation Certification Exam.

Life is great – and I owe a lot of my success to the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics.

Peace,

Steve Bolia, LMT, NCTMB (Class of 2012)
