Daneal Healey

Assistant Instructor Integrated Back Treatment, Living Foods, Non-Specific Stretches, Reflexology & Whiplash Treatment; Remedy Store Staff

When did you graduate?

I graduated from New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in February 2009.

What other academic/professional experience do you have?

Prior to attending New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics, I graduated from The Ayurvedic Institute Level I. There I was introduced to Marma Therapy, which spawned my love of hands on therapies. I have also taken over 500 hours of training in yoga therapy in the ParaYoga tradition.

What is your approach to bodywork?

My approach to bodywork is to listen and wait for the body to start directing me. I like to blend different modalities into my treatments in order to assist the individual in relaxation. I also enjoy using flower essences in treatments, which often gets the body unwinding before I even lay my hands on the person!

What do you teach?

I am currently assisting in Non-Specific Stretches, Whiplash Treatment, Integrated Back Treatment, Reflexology, and Living Foods classes.

Why do you enjoy teaching?

Yoga instruction was my first introduction to teaching. Growing up, being in front of a group of people was the last place I wanted to be. However, my yoga teacher saw the teacher in me and would not let me hide from it anymore. I found that teaching deepens the practice and understanding of a subject. I enjoy helping others learn new things and broaden their perspectives. And lastly, I enjoy teaching because I have been blessed with many very great teachers and mentors, and when I teach, I feel it honors what I have been given in this life.

Why do you feel NMSNT is a great place to learn?

New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics is a great place to learn because everyone that works here are graduates of the school. There is lots of space to try new ways of living and healing methods and to be supported by like-minded people.

What is something unique about you?

I was blessed to be able to enter this world in the presence of ONLY my parents, with my brother and sister in the next room of our home in the oak and maple forest of southern Michigan on the first day of spring.
